Chinese New Year

The Browns invited us over for Chinese New Year.
They always have a great celebration, food, sparklers, fire works, and more fireworks!!!

It was the best fireworks show thus far in their celebrations.
It was a cold night, I was inside with Willem.
Watching the fireworks from the kitchen windows.  We stayed warm and had a front row seat with our height to the fireworks.

Sycamore Trees in Farmington

The Sycamore trees line this beautiful street in Farmington.
I travel down this street to the Post Office.
Today on route to the P.O.  I was so enchanted with the bark on these
beautiful trees.

They sport brown, red, green and yellow in their bark right now!!!

Liquid Gold

Steve shared some of his honey with us.  It is heavenly.
It is like liquid gold.

I may have to make homemade rolls, to go with this fabulous honey!

Love it!!
Our last batch of honey from Steve's bees was a darker color gold.  This must be autumn honey.
I think the last honey might have been Spring honey?!

I have heard, dependent on when it is harvested, the same bees honey will not look the same.

Love My Chickens

My chickens are faring the winter well.  It has been a cold winter so I am pleased how well they have done.

Their new coop has served them well.

Go Elbow Grease

Heidi is working on painting this table and set of chairs.

This set is the kitchen table I grew up eating on.  It had been taken up to Clark's cabin to reside the last 20 years.

The cabin was sold last year and I was given this table.

It has many memories of good breakfasts eaten at it.  We had a dinning room so our fancier meals were eaten in there.  I don't have a memory of dinners on this table as much as breakfasts.

Heidi has given a lot of elbow grease to this table set and voila'.

I think her results are looking so great!!

Family Waffle Dinner

We had the family over for dinner tonight.  We had waffles and a breakfast casserole, sausage, and bacon and oranges.
It was very good.  I am sure it was not a heart heathly meal, but I am not sure I ever serve, a heart heathly meal.

We enjoy having everyone come.   We miss N&B and their family when we gather.

Behind the Times

I have accumulated a few extra eggs from my chickens the last couple of days.
They are such good layers!  Great chickens, great eggs, I just have a little excess right now.

So I was going to do some baking today, to use up some extra eggs. The day got away from me, and I haven't baked yet.  I decided to google  "freezing eggs"  just to see if it is possible to store this excess for use later.

At my age I am often feeling like I am behind the times.   That is okay with me because I would often choose to be behind the times on many things.

I do use Google like my right arm to find out info on every topic possible.

I do occasionally watch a UTube video to learn something.

But today I was so innocent in asking can I freeze my eggs.

It never crossed my mind that I would receive responses about freezing human female eggs!!!

When fertility sites came up it took me just a minute to compute why??  I couldn't even wrap my mind around it at first I was so surprised.

It has given me a chuckle ever since!!!!!

For any with my same interest in knowing if you can freeze chicken eggs, the answer YES.
If you want to know the details... google freezing eggs...

Anna Drops In

Anna dropped in Friday afternoon after work.  We had so much fun together, creating an invitation, to a shower she is throwing, for a newly engaged friend.
Anna is computer savvy, and so she did the designing and set-up, I did the little bird image.

How fun did they turn out?!!!

Baby Blankets

A blanket for Eliza..

A blanket for Simone...

A blanket for Abraham...

A blanket for baby Wren...

I had fun making baby blankets before Christmas, so happy to have so many babies in our family born recently.

Kaylie and Adam Brought Home their Baby

Little Wren was born on Dec. 23, 2013.  She had a rough delivery and ended up being transported to a Children's hospital in Boston.  There she lie drug induced coma for several days while a respirator breathed for her.  She weighed 7# 3 oz.  So I am sure in the NICU she looked like the healthy one.  Looks are often deceiving. Unable to hold her, Adam and Kaylie could touch her.
They gave her touches of love and concern, and on Christmas day little Wren turned a corner.  The doctors told them that later...

On January 1, 2014 they were able to leave the NICU and take baby Wren home.  One of the nurses that cared for baby Wren said, "Babies with her condition don't get better this quickly!!"
What great news for this little family!!!
