Amazing Grace

The close of my day today.
Our fall weather held all kinds of weather today, cold, snow, rain, and wind and sun.

It was a delightful day to stay inside.
I tended R&L's kids today.
We had a wonderful day.

I met Russ and my parents for a great dinner this evening.
When I dropped off my parents this was the view...

Amazing!!!!

Green/Blue Egg

My first green/ blue egg!!!

I haven't known when my chickens lay their eggs.  I usually gather the eggs in the evening.  Or I should say Russ gathers the eggs in the evenings.

It is 10:30 am and I went down to see if there were any eggs yet.  Look what I found, my first green/blue egg...

I have been waiting to have one of the chickens lay this colored egg.  I was surprised to see it this morning.  I even commented to Russ last night as we gathered the eggs, I wonder if we will have any blue eggs as we hadn't seen any yet.

This would make 10 of our 16 chickens laying now!!!

New Egg Basket

I have a new basket to gather my eggs with.  I went down tonight to gather my eggs.

It is a 6 egg day.  Not bad.  I had a 9 egg day a couple of days ago.  So a six egg day is a good day, but not my best day, of the most eggs gathered.

Nine eggs a day will add up to a lot of eggs quickly.

Jolly Fellow

This jolly fellow knows a secret.
This jolly fellow has kept this secret a long time.

I remember back before all the
Christmas commercialism, that this little fellow held our Hot Chocolate, with the same wink in his eye.

We knew the holiday season was upon us with his wink.

He and his friends took up a lot of cupboard space, and so now, we have to have his wink in our memories.

This jolly fellow's wink will remain his secret, but if he was successful, his wink was one of Love, Friendship and Good Cheer.

This post is posted today, only due to circumstance of greeting this fellow in a box, while unpacking my parents possessions, into their condo.

There is no connection to the Christmas commercialism afore mentioned.  I am not hurrying the season along.  I am certain that would be against this jolly fellow's wink!!!

New Experience/ Mom is Lost

This is what one gets when they go to the airport to pick up their parent, but their parent never shows up at the baggage claim.

Security at airports now, don't allow anyone to venture to the gates of destination or arrival.

So what is one to do when you go to get your traveler (parent) and they don't arrive...

Well, today I  learned many things...

1. Never go to the airport without your ID, even when you are not the one traveling.

2. Men can't go in Women's Bathrooms

3. One worries as much for a lost parent as one does for a lost child.

4. The airport takes a lost person seriously.

5. When you think you are the only person in your situation, you are always wrong.

6. It must be the season for lost parents.

7. When the lost is found, it is a plus to have them think it is funny!

I got grey hair raising my children, what will I get trying to keep track of my parents?!
Dibs on that beautiful white hair!

Fun Day on Thursday

Yea, we had a fun day...

Roosting Again

This is how my chickens were roosting tonight.

This is how they were roosting last night.
The only thing I can see that is the same is the littlest chicken is still in the middle.

Roosting

I have never gone in the chicken coop when my chickens have roosted for the night.
I peeked in tonight and this is what I saw.
All the chickens on the top roost.

Looks like my camera flash has the chickens waking...
It is funny to see them all snuggled in there.
I have to say that walking down to the coop tonight, it was honestly COLD!!!

They must be warmer snuggled tight together all on the same row.
If you notice though they don't all face the same direction.
Some of the chickens are roosted forward facing and the others are facing the wall.

I wonder about the order the chickens are in.  Only I would notice my smallest chicken is in the middle.
I wonder if they have a sleeping buddy.  Do they always sleep next to the same chicken or in the same place?

I will go down tonight and check these chickens out again to answer some of my questions!!

Lovely Sight

Isn't that a lovely sight.
Bottles of home canned fruit.  Just beautiful.

Fall in the Air

Our days are getting shorter, our days are trying to become cooler, our nights are getting cooler...

Our garden boots are our companions as we harvest from our garden.

We have been working with our tomatoes for several days, and are loving our beautiful peppers!

Fresh Egg

My beautiful, fresh, laid today, chicken eggs...

My Day

Carson and Thomas fell asleep at the same time in the afternoon.  For a minute I was not sure what to do with myself, with both of them sleeping.

When the girls arrived home from school and playing,  they hid from Grandma's camera!!

It was a lovely day.  The rain, cloud cover, and temp., all pointed towards a change in season.  I am excited for autumn to arrive!

Piano

I love to hear the piano played.
I loved when my children were home and played the piano.

My Dad has always played a piano when I was growing up.
We had his families Steinway piano in our living room and I loved hearing it played.

He traded that piano for this piano years ago.

I love love love to hear him play.  He plays by ear.
He has a lovely repertoire of music he plays.

I will have to find the names of the songs he plays and list them in this blog when I do.  When ever I hear his music I am taken back to so many years of hearing him play his piano.

I have been setting up their new condo in SLC and took this photo of his piano there today.

There were three years (years ago)  that this piano graced my living room while they served a 3 year mission in Kenya Africa,  for our  church,  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Three Egg Day

It is a three egg day today.  Yesterday was a four egg day.

Our New Soccer Player

Abby started soccer this fall.  She had her first soccer game on Saturday.
She was a great player and team mate.
I got to see her first game and loved watching her run after and kick the ball.

Go Abby!!!!!

Great Evening

Russ and Liz gave us their tickets for this concert tonight.  They had a conflict with their schedule.
We enjoyed our evening immensely.

The Conference Center was filled.  James Taylor got a standing ovation with 2 recalls!!!
Well not to mention he got a standing ovation just with his first appearance on stage.
He sang Sweet Baby James on his first call back.  He sang Shower the People You Love With Love on his second.
Yea they could have been my favorites of the evening.
I love his rambling voice.  I at times didn't think the symphony or choir were quite the right match for him.

With that said it comes close to being my al-time favorite concert in the Conference Center.

Feast

My chickens had a feast tonight!!!

This has been the best watermelon I have had in several years.  I picked it up at a local fruit market yesterday.
