Another update

I have no intentions of giving you an hourly update on my little baby birds ...

But then again they are very vulnerable.  I am a mother and they are very endearing!!!

Four Babies

I got a chance to see in the nest this morning.

The Momma was out flying in the yard.

Look what is in our nest now!

We have four babies!  And note there is not a sign of those beautiful colored blue eggs.  Where did they go.  I know for fact that 2 of those eggs where there Yesterday.  Does the Mom  eat them?  Does the Mom take them out of the nest?

One incident leads to another question!!!

Won't these babies be cute with their feathers!  They sure look vulnerable right now!

Sitting

The Momma Robin has been faithfully sitting on her nest all evening.

She fluffs herself up so to keep those little ones warm. She is sitting there again in the rain.
I think she is the best Momma!

No picutres maybe tomorrow!

More Cards

I have been able to paint a little today.

I love to watercolor.  I have made a couple of sets of cards today and listed them in my shop.

Before the night is through I will have some more sets ready to list.

I will also check on my baby birds again.

Two Babies & Two Blue Eggs

Our Robin update...

I was able to remove the screen from the window today when the Momma was off her nest.
This makes it much easier to take pictures.

Look what is in the nest this morning!!!
I was able to see one baby yesterday and then by evening I could see a hole in another egg. It was beginning its hatching.

Today we have 2 babies.  I read on google yesterday that an egg will hatch a day. If that is so, another of these eggs should hatch today or tomorrow.

It is so thrilling to watch this nest of activity.

I watched this morning as the Momma left the nest the Dad came in and stood on the side of the nest, keeping guard. He would feed the babies and moved them with his beak.  He looked like a proud Pappa!!
As soon as the Momma returned the Pappa left.

The Mom then snuggles down over the nest fluffing out her feathers and positioning herself till she feels she is just right over the nest.  She then settles in.  I have seen her with beads of rain on her back and wings just staying put covering those babies, no mind to her condition.  I think the oil on her feathers insulates her from the moisture.

I have see one of these babies lift its head and open its beak for food already!

It is fascinating to be so privy to this little world.

Another Two Step

And the garden boots did a little two step....

Little big meat

Bennett joined us for dinner tonight.

Becky & Nate & Ryan also joined us.

But it was Bennett who entertained me at dinner by saying he was having "little big meat" for dinner!

Sunday's Treasure Three Eggs One Baby!

Today I decided to update  you on my robin eggs.

I have tried during the week to take a picture of this faithful Mom who sits in the rain and wind on her nest of four eggs.

She is very alert each time I would focus my camera she would fly off the nest.  Even when trying to focus the camera from out in the yard.  This Mother doesn't want attention.  She is also protective of her eggs.

This morning after serious rain last night.  I decided to check on the nest.

Look what I found...

It was very hard to focus at the right angle to see this baby and to get a clear picture through my window screen.  But if you look hard there is a baby bird, all skin, no feathers yet....

I hope I didn't frighten the Mommy because she needs to come keep this baby warm!!!!

New Cards

I added a couple of new cards to my Etsy shop today. I have played around with my sewing machine.
I have sewn the original watercolor paper onto the card to make an interesting unique card. Each an original watercolor.
I had fun making the envelopes for the cards too.

No Dieters!

Now this is a Memorial Day treat!

There can be no dieter's (those that are dieting) around today!!

All must enjoy!

One Day

One day in a flower garden.

One day in a flower garden is a long time.
One day creates many changes in a flower garden.
Growth, new growth, change and more change all happen in one day in a flower garden.

One day in a garden sometimes includes birth, life and death all in one day.

It is fasinating that plants can grow so quickly. Bloom exquisite blooms, shine for the day and then be gone.

One day in a  flower garden provides so much pleasure.  So much pleasure for the one who looks and notices.  One must look and watch and notice because if you don't you will miss the beauty the fleeting beauty that each day provides us in a  flower garden.

This morning in my garden, overcast skies and cool weather changed mid morning and the sun came in for the day warming things up...

With all the right conditions look what was in my garden this evening.

White

These beautiful white flowers are making quite a showing today in my flower beds in the backyard.

They are going to need to be researched because I think I heard on KSL's garden show a couple of weeks ago that these bulbs are a real challenge.  They spread and are hard to eliminate.

They are so pretty I will have to be sure before I pull them out if that is what I need to do with them!

White flowers are a close second to blue flower in my favorites.

Visitors

I had some cute visitors stop by today.
They are leaving town tomorrow.

They stayed in their car so they will not be exposed to sickness before their trip.

I went to the car to say hello,
Mabel says,"Grandma why do you have owies in your tummy?"

Honestly everything these little ones do and say melts my heart!!!

The susprise is: (These little ones are heading to Disneyland!!!) They don't know that yet so keep the secret!!

Low Profile

He has kept a very low profile lately.

I did catch him twice today,  peaking around the corner,  trying to see the project I am working on.

If I were to say it I would say it very quietly, lest he become a pest.  It is good to see him again!

Mommy Robin

I was able to take a photo this evening.

The Mommy Robin stayed on her nest as I slowly moved to take the picture! How cool is this!

Nest

I have tried today to take a picture of my mother Robin on her nest.

She is very alert and flies away with each try...

I do have all 4 eggs in a photo taken today on one of my attempts at taking a picture of the mother.

Sunday's Treasure

We found treasure in the yard today!!!  There are four eggs, only 3 can be seen in this photo.
Incredible color!!

This nest is right outside my bedroom window in some tall climbing roses.  The robins have returned to this nest I believe this is the 3rd year.

Do robins return to the same nest?  Or do other robins use nests that are already existant that they find?

I am not sure which it is but we have had this nest in the roses for about 3 years and every year it is used. We have seen eggs in the nest in past years.  We have not ever been able to see the birds take flight from this nest.
 Maybe this year!!!

What percentage of robin eggs hatch to produce healthy young, that take flight and survive?

We did find a baby robin that didn't survive one year on the grass below this nest.

Thrift Store Haunt

Russ haunts thrift stores.  He oft brings home wonderful useful items.

He supplies me with frames from these stores.  I am always appreciative of his findings.  All in the family have benefitted from his finds.

Today he hit the jackpot and brought home a prize!!

We love this artist and have been to her studio.  We have not seen this kind of work from her and summize this is a very early work of hers.

We love it!!

Paradise

It has rained all day, most of the last week and is forcast to rain next week.

My yard in the desert of Utah is a complete paradise. A complete tropical paradise. Every where I went in 5 minutes in  my yard took my breath away.

I only walked out the back door and into the front door.  I didn't even venture into our farm.

This will be my longest photo blog ever.  I just have to share what I saw in less than 5 minutes!!!!

See if you don't agree with me,  was that a walk very close to heaven?!!!!!!

I love the paradise I live in!!!!
