Baby Birds

We love when Spring arrives and the birds start to chirp.

We have loved through the years how many a bird decides to make their nests in our trees, we usually have  a nest with baby birds in it every year.

It has been fun to peek in the nests and see how many eggs and then baby birds reside in the nest.
We have loved when the eggs hatch and we here the baby chicks chirping!  We have often watched a mother take food to her young ones in her nest.

We love how the little beaks can be seen above the nest with their mouths wide open, waiting for the food to be dropped into their beaks from their mothers beck.

We are always sad when the nests fall from the trees.

Last year there were baby birds in these nests down by the gazebo.  I would have the mother close by me whenever I would sit in the gazebo.  I would watch & watch and occasionally catch her flying into her nest. 

Mother birds are very protective of their babies.  We have on occasion had them fly by us too close for comfort.
